Walter & Paulina (Prebe) Gorham

Our sources indicate that Walter and Lena Gorham lived on North N. Territorial Rd, in Canton, MI in 1933.  This picture of the Gorhams was taken in 1938.

Walter B. Gorham of Canton was born in Canton, Wayne Co., Michigan December 27,1837.  His parents Benjamin and Lucetta (Watson) Gorham were Eastern people coming to Michigan before it became a state.  Benjamin died January 14, 1877, age 52.  January 18, 1887 Walter married Paulina Prebe of Canton.  Paulina was born in Germany, April 28, 1869.  She came to the U.S. with her parents, Godfrey and Elizabeth Prebe in December 1880.  They first located in Detroit and in 1883 they purchased a farm in Canton, Wayne Co., MI.  They had one child, Benjamin, born January 12, 1888.
