George Washington Watson was born on
February 22, 1845 in Canton, MI, the eighth child of Walter and Rebecca.
Martha
Elizabeth Burrell was born on July 14, 1845 in Denton, MI. She was the youngest
of five children and the only daughter of George and Sarah Jane (Smith) Burrell. Her
four older brothers were: James, William, George and Daniel.
George and Martha were married on
November 8, 1865 at Nankin (now Westland), MI by Justice of the Peace, Willard Edmunds.
Together they had five children. Our sources indicate that their sons, George, Frank
and Edd attended the Palmer School, located on the north-east corner of Geddes and Beck
roads.

Here is another

The
following is a letter that Pat Morbach has a copy of. This was written by
George Washington Watson to his son, George Walter Watson. "Little
Ruth" refers to Ruth Rebecca Watson who was born in 1891. This is
copied as he had written it.

9:20 PM 4/13/1892
Dear
Children:
I Write a few lines to let you know that we are all in the land of the living and
as well as usual. I have been building fence this afternoon and Edd has
been Dragging Back of the R R, got the Buckwheat field Ready to Go to Oats
tomorrow afternoon if it dont Rain. Frank has been Drawing Manure in the
Orchard. we are going to Sow Peas in the orchard. I went to Peter
Gills after a load of hay this forenoon. it is the first hay we have
bought. I got it for the cows it is clover and a little timothy & $8
a ton. I Saw in last nights times that the M C R R would carry for half
fare for Easter and it is nice weather we Shall be looking for you and Dear
Little Ruth Sat night if not before. We are all getting ancious (sic) to
see her and you. Send us word when you can come and we will meet you at
the train.
