George & Martha (Burrell) Watson

Complied by Pat Morbach:

George Washington Watson was born on February 22, 1845 in Canton, MI, the eighth child of Walter and Rebecca.

Martha Elizabeth Burrell was born on July 14, 1845 in Denton, MI.  She was the youngest of five children and the only daughter of George and Sarah Jane (Smith) Burrell.  Her four older brothers were: James, William, George and Daniel.

George and Martha were married on November 8, 1865 at Nankin (now Westland), MI by Justice of the Peace, Willard Edmunds. Together they had five children.  Our sources indicate that their sons, George, Frank and Edd attended the Palmer School, located on the north-east corner of Geddes and Beck roads.

Pat Morbach has these pictures of George and Martha.  There are no dates on them.

Here is another picture Pat had of George Washington Watson.  The words on the wagon are "Geo. Watson and Sons Dairy and Fruit Farm."  His offices were in Detroit, MI on 16th Street.

The following is a letter that Pat Morbach has a copy of.  This was written by George Washington Watson to his son, George Walter Watson.  "Little Ruth" refers to Ruth Rebecca Watson who was born in 1891.  This is copied as he had written it.
