The following was complied by Elaine Lovelace.
Andrew was born in 1831 to James and Harriett (Hart) Trumbull. In 1857 he married Nancy Farin. The day after Andrew married Nancy, he purchased 80 acres of land, Section 28, in Ottawa Co., MI directly from the government. This would make Andrew one of the original land grant recipients and most likely mark him as a pioneer of Ottawa Co. The June 18, 1860 census for Novi, Oakland Co., MI shows Andrew as 29 and his occupation as a farmer. Nancy as 22, Owen (his age unreadable) and Harriett as 2. They are all shown to have been born in MI. Andrew's real estate is valued at $700.00 and his personal property at $30.00. Elaine also found this information on the Farins: The census taken on August 19, 1850 gives the following information about Nancy Farin and her family. Father Amos, 47 a farmer from Canada, mother Anna also from Canada, sister Huldah 19, brother Ransom D. 18, Jane 16, Miranda 14; all born in Canada. Nancy 12 and younger sister Sylvana 8 both born in MI. Jane, Miranda, Nancy and Sylvana attended school. They lived in Salem Township, Washtenaw Co., MI. |
