Harvey, Cynthia (Tubbs) & Jane (Lyon) Trumbull


Hiram Harvey Trumbull was born in NY in 1828.  Harvey is the son of  James and Harriett Trumbull. 

Harvey married Cynthia Tubbs in Robinson Township, Ottawa County, Michigan in 1857 or 1858.

The census records of August 3, 1860 show Harvey living in Ottawa County, Robinson Township, MI. He apparently lived right next to his brother Alva. This census indicates Harvey was born in MI and his wife, Cynthia was born in NY.  Harvey's real estate is valued at $1,000.00 and his personal property at $100.00.  Harvey lists his occupation as lumberman.  He is listed as 30 and Cynthia at 22. Their children are: Violetta  1 and Jane 8 months. Also listed is a Harriett Hubbard, 16 years old, from MI.  She is a domestic.

Our sources to indicate that Harvey and Cynthia had two more sons, Hiram Harvey and Sylvester.

According to sources, Cynthia ran off with a one-armed Civil War veteran named Pringle who took her to Grand Rapids. According to her son's, Sylvester, obituary he was taken to Shiawassee County when he was 3 years old.  So sometime between 1865 and 1868, Cynthia left Harvey.

Harvey married Miss Jane Lyon of NY on June 25, 1872.  Both Harvey and Jane were living in Vernon, Shiawassee County, Michigan at the time of their marriage.

Harvey and Jane had three children, Frank, Milon and Mina. 

According to the June, 1880 census, Hazelton 17, Page 23, Lawson Barrett, Enumerator, the following was listed:

Harvey Trumble 52 Farmer, born in NY
Jane 38 keeping house, born in NY
Viletta 22 keeping house, born in MI
Hiram 20 born in MI
Sylvester 16 born in MI
Frank 6 born in MI
Mina 4 born in MI
Milon 2 born in MI

All the children listed above were designated as "single".

According to his death certificate, Harvey was a widower when he died on January 26, 1911.   Jane having passed on in 1897.

Harvey, Hiram, Frank and Jane and buried side by side in the Elmwood Cemetery, New Lothrop, Shiawassee County, Michigan.
