Orson & Alma (Trumbull) Sober

Alma A. is the daughter of Harriett Hart and James Trumbull of CT.

In 1850, Alma married Orson A. Sober and lived with him on a farm in Superior Township, Washtenaw Co., MI.  The census of 1850 indicates that Alma and Orson were married in that year and the value of the land they purchased was $1,800.00.  It also lists Orson as having been born in NY and Alma in MI.  Owen Trumbull was living with Alma and Orson on the farm.

During their life together, Alma and Orson had six children:  Eliza A., Byron A., Harriett, James A., Oscar A., and Ida Estelle.

The census of 1860 lists Orson and Alma with a land value of $1,800.00.  The children listed are Eliza Ann 9, Byron 7, Harriett 5 and all going to school.  James is 2 years old.

In the 1870 census we see that Orson and Alma's value has gone up.  Their real estate is valued at $20,3000 and their personal property value is $1,320.00.  The children listed are Eliza A. 19, Harriet 15.  At home, James 12 at school and Ida 1.

Harriett died in 1875 and Alma died in 1877, both from consumption.  Alma's occupation at death was listed as Housewife.

1880 census shows only Orson, James and Stella living at the home.  James is 21 and Stella (Ida Estella) is 11 and goes to school.
